How to Stay Sane While Commuting, & Improve Your Life At the Same Time
Author: JudyLynn Wetherill

Commuting might be one of the most challenging things one has to do on a daily basis. If it was just you and you were able to avoid dealing with others along the way then maybe it would be more tolerable. For most individuals are feeling as unhappy about their situation as you are. Occasionally the individuals you connect with are uplifting and inspirational if you are not in your own little cell called a vehicle. Now on days there is much effort put into carpooling which is a fabulous idea yet when I am on the freeway still I see the majority of vehicles with only one person in each.

Are you ready to use the time well that you are spending commuting?

What if what you do while you are commuting supports you in a way that you actually look forward to spending that time everyday because you are able to spend it on you?
Feeling great, enjoying spending time with you and improving your whole life in the process. There are three things that are highly recommended, fairly low cost and highly effective.

The first one includes no cost it is becoming more recognized as valuable and everyday can allow you greater freedom in life than anything else could. Can you imagine it has to do with your breathing? It is that simple. Your breath is on automatic at any time that you are not paying attention; this does not mean that automatic is serving you other than keeping you alive. Of course this serves to a degree, as we would be in heaps of trouble if we had a bunch of dead people driving around in a bunch of cars, yet by paying attention to your breath you can actually improve your health, live longer, be happier, feel more love, have more energy to play or make more money, you have greater clarity and all of this contributes to better relationships as well. Anything I left out? There is one more aspect that sits on the spiritual side and includes all the rest and I’ll let you play with that one. I personally feel more connected to all things in life when I am willing to take time to focus on my breath, let me know how it works for you. To pay attention to your breath is where to start and then from there it is a great idea to use breathing exercises to allow your breathing to become more effective.

A simple exercise is to count to six while breathing in and then count to twelve while you exhale. It might be interesting for you if you breath very shallowly normally. By just doing something this simple you will start interrupting the pattern and hopefully adjust your habitual breathing so it is more effective for you. Remember thou that this could cause you to relax quite a bit so be aware of what exercises you do while you are driving. For more exercises to assist you in improving your breathing habit check out http://www.bodywealth.net/audiocds.html
Another thing you could do while commuting is to join the movement called automobile university or in this case we will call it commuting university. All you require is an interest in something and the means to listen to the audios of your choice. Maybe learn a new language, information pertaining to your line of work, a self improvement system, a relationship/communication course or anything else that might interest you. The cost is slightly higher if you have to attain a disc player or audio cassette player and some courses can only be attained through purchase yet if you look into it a bit, you will find that a lot of libraries carry an array of inspirational informative audios for just this purpose.

One last thing I think would be easiest for those not actually doing the driving would be to release your physical body, get rid of those aches and pains. Might as well since you are where you are and although commuting is required pain and tension are optional. By doing a few stretches for your neck and back you have the ability to increase your circulation to your brain. I use a technique with a tennis ball to keep my hips, legs and back released as well. As a passenger in a vehicle, on a bus or on a plane I find the tennis ball to be one of my best friends in keeping my body happy. Everything seems to be smoother in my life when I feel good in my body and my energy levels are always higher because I am not dealing with any pain or tension on an ongoing basis. If you are interested in the technique to release your body using a tennis ball you can find it at http://www.bodywealth.net/myoball.html

The cost is minimal for the valuable information that will benefit you for a lifetime whether you are commuting or on a holiday.

If you are willing to learn just a couple of simple things and invest in yourself then you can make any commute one of benefit to you and everyone that you meet. Remember smiles are contagious and if you haven’t been to see the movie ‘What the Bleep Do We Know” then check it out and know that it is your choice in every moment whether you are moving toward greater love and success or moving away form these things.
