New Beginnings: How to Start Over in Life!

Are you ready for a new beginning in your life? No really, are you? I know you probably think you are, but are you really? Are you ready to take action? Are you ready to live your dreams? I certainly hope so. If you are, Attraction-U can help you.

What does starting over mean? And can we really start over? Is it possible? Is it really possible to start over in your career? Your relationships? Your health? Your financial situation? Your way of looking at how the world works? The answer is yes. You can always start over. All you need is two things: (1) a personal commitment to change and (2) a good plan for where to go and how to get there.

Many people say they want to “start over.” However, most people I know don’t do it. They talk about it, but they don’t do it. For example, do you know many people who constantly complain about their job? Or complain about their partner? Or complain about anything and everything? I know a lot of people who don’t like their jobs. And my advice to them is always the same: go try to find a better one. Sounds simple enough, right? I am the person with the mindset of “nothing ventured, nothing gained.” How are you going to improve your life if you don’t take action? So I always encourage these people to take the steps to manifest a new, more enjoyable job. But do they? No. And I can’t ever figure out why. I suppose I just think differently than they do. Unlike them, I’m not afraid of change. And that’s probably because I have the tools to create the life I desire and the ability to teach others to do the same.

Most people don’t strive for new beginnings because the unknown is scary. Even though people may not like where they are at the moment (job, relationship, anything), it is still familiar. And comfortable. And predictable. And requires minimal effort. Sounds great, right? No. Not for me. But the average human is funny. They have a love/hate relationship with the familiar, the comfortable, and the predictable. In the interpersonal communication literature, it is called “dialectical tensions.” For example, one tension in relationships is called “predictability vs. novelty.” In other words, people love predictability, but yet they also crave novelty. That’s what makes life so complicated! But it also makes it fun!

My theory about why people don’t like new beginnings is because of fear. For example, I figured out the reasons why people do not take the initiative to find a new job. They are scared of leaving the people they work with, or the benefits, or the job security, or countless other personal reasons. Or all of the above. I’m not going to try to sit here and tell you I am completely free of fear. I wish! But I’m not afraid of change. If you’re unhappy with something – your job, your relationship, your house, your life – change it! I know it’s difficult and scary, but that’s what makes life exciting!!

So I challenge you to take a chance. Make a change. Start anew. There’s a motto that I live by: “Carpe Diem!” which simply means “Seize the Day!” I hope you will seize your day. And we at Attraction-U would love to help you do it.
