2 - The article:
Last week I received a monthly newsletter relating the effects of Mercury's retrograde upon our environment. Most affected are communication and transportation. Hoping in some way that Nature's moodiness wouldn't affect my professional and personal duties, I decided not to pay too much attention to its caprices. However, within a day, my computer became reluctant to function correctly, my car broke down just as I entered the freeway, and I could not easily set up my new phone lines. I started to wonder if it was a coincidence, a real astrological caprice, or a sign that I had to stop! So, I decided to go with the flow and to transform what could have become a strenuous day into a day of SELF-INDULGENCE. After all, we should appreciate such events and use them to take a short break and enjoy self-nourishment. Here are a few suggestions that I have tried, and recommended to my clients, which all include aromatic oils of course! These luxurious yet easy-to-do exquisite "treats" will make you feel like a Goddess!
- The aromatic rose mask:
Feel refreshed with this wonderful soothing mask. Blend 4 tablespoons of pink and white clay with some water and 1 teaspoon of carrier oil (vitamin E, avocado if you have dry skin, or sweet almond for other skin types). Pour in 3 drops of rose essential oils, and apply it thoroughly on your face. Keep it in place the entire time while indulging in a relaxing bath! Then rinse well.
- The aromatic milk bath ritual:
In ancient times, Goddesses enjoyed this exquisite treat! Transform yourself too into a Deity today! Turn off the lights and light some candles in your bathroom. Enjoy a delicious mixed herbal tea made of fruits and flowers! Blend 3 tablespoons of dry milk with 4 tablespoons of dry buttermilk (you can change the dosage depending on your preferences). Bit by bit add some soy milk to make it blend nicely. Then add a soothing carrier oil (sweet almond, avocado, sesame, etc.) and one of the essential oil blends mentioned below:
6 drops of Rose + 3 drops of Sandalwood + 2 drops of Patchouli
5 drops of Ylang Ylang + 4 drops of ruby Grapefruit + 3 drops of Cardamom
5 drops of Sandalwood + 3 drops of Patchouli + 2 drops of Cinnamon
This luxurious bath will transport you to another world.
Now that you have lived such a unique moment, let's continue with...
- The Goddess body oil:
Blend 4 drops of Rose + 4 drops of Sandalwood + 3 drops of Jasmine in a nourishing carrier oil ( sweet almond, jojoba, sesame, etc.). Massage it in all over your body, wrap yourself in a soft cotton robe, and then relax. Diffuse some essential oils such as Lavender + Petitgrain + Camomile, and enjoy reading or practicing a short meditation!
3 - The Essential Oil Portrait: Orange - citrus aurantium
The orange tree's reputation is widely spread throughout Europe, from Portugal to Sicily and Greece and even further East in India. The first myth about the tree comes from ancient times when the Virgin Mary traveled with Joseph and the infant Jesus.
They arrived at an orange tree guarded by a blind man. The Virgin Mary picked three oranges, and distributed them, keeping one for herself. Since then, the blind man recovered his eyesight and the legend was born. In Sicily, people decorate the icon of the Madonna with blossoming orange tree stems, while in Sardinia newlyweds go their new home on a buffalo whose horns have been decorated with the fruit. The orange tree is directly connected to the Tarot card, the Fool, the breath of fresh air that brings joy and new life.
